Overview

Join Ocean Bank’s Private Client Services team as a VP, Relationship Manager – PCS focused on commercial lending within the Wealth Management Division. In this role, you’ll build and deepen relationships with business owners and high-net-worth clients, originate and structure commercial real estate, commercial and industrial, and home equity lending solutions, and manage a portfolio of lending and deposit relationships. You’ll partner with Wealth Management colleagues to identify opportunities, deliver a high level of client service, and support sound credit quality.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Develop new commercial lending relationships with business owners and high-net-worth clients through prospecting, networking, referrals, and collaboration with Wealth Management colleagues.
  • Prospect and meet regularly with potential customers outside of the office to originate commercial loan opportunities and sell credit solutions and related banking services.
  • Originate and structure commercial real estate (CRE), commercial and industrial (C&I), and home equity line of credit (HELOC) loans to meet client needs and support lending goals.
  • Manage and expand a portfolio of commercial loan and deposit relationships, serving as a primary contact for clients’ commercial lending needs.
  • Partner with Wealth Management relationship managers and other bank teams to identify opportunities and deliver coordinated banking solutions.
  • Conduct preliminary credit and financial analyses, and guide loan requests through underwriting, approval, and closing.
  • Monitor portfolio performance, loan covenants, maturities, and borrower performance; identify and address emerging credit concerns.
  • Maintain an active lending pipeline and work with Credit and Loan Operations teams to execute transactions while meeting lending policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform due diligence on the BSA/KYC (Know Your Customer) write-ups and profile; conduct customer interviews to profile them as well as to comply with BSA, KYC and other bank policies and procedures. Respond to BSA requests.
  • Continually identify and analyze new products and/or initiatives that would enhance the service provided to the customer.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance.
  2. Five (5) years of banking-related experience in product sales and lending.
  3. Knowledgeable in bank operations, new accounts, relationship management, payment processing, wire transfers, debits/credits, overdraft/uncollected management, past due loan management, and related activities.
  4. Ability to visit prospective clients within a designated market area to achieve sales objectives is required.

Soft Skills

  1. Demonstrated success originating commercial loans and developing commercial banking relationships.
  2. Strong commercial credit underwriting and financial analysis skills.
  3. Proven business development and relationship management capabilities.
  4. Ability to originate and structure complex commercial credit transactions.
  5. Deep understanding of commercial lending products, credit policy, and regulatory requirements.
  6. Advanced understanding and experience with commercial banking or private banking relationships and experience interacting with high-net worth clients.
  7. Ability to work effectively with high-net-worth individuals, business owners, and professional advisors.
  8. Strong presentation, negotiation, and communication skills.
  9. Ability to develop business through both direct calling efforts and in-person meetings/ networks.
  10. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional client service.
  11. Computer proficiency in MS Software (e.g. Excel, Word, and Outlook).

 

Preferred Experience

  • Strong network within the South Florida business community.
  • Formal credit training and / or experience in commercial, consumer or real estate lending.
  • An established client portfolio.
