Overview

The Credit & Collections Analyst is responsible for pre-collection and past due collection of the Bank’s residential and consumer loan products including credit card products, with a focus on collections, loss mitigation, and regulatory compliance.  

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Bank’s residential loan and HELOC loss mitigation process, including communication with Borrowers that have solicited loan modifications and/or other loss mitigation options.
  • Handle charged-off overdrafts in litigation with in-house counsel.
  • Review bankruptcy notices and coordinate with Special Assets Department (SAD).
  • Maintain logs and reports including bankruptcy, modification tracking, and FNMA delinquency reporting.
  • Coordinate Fannie Mae modification programs and reporting.
  • Call commercial lending clients to obtain required financial information on a regular basis, issuing the required notices to customers regarding outstanding technical exceptions.
  • Review credit documentation for modification eligibility.
  • Conduct collection efforts on loans 15+ days past due.
  • Perform courtesy calls for residential loans under 15 days past due and assist customers with past-due accounts.
  • Call clients every three days to follow up on delinquent accounts.
  • Respond to disputes and complaints related to loss mitigation.
  • Pursue recovery of force-placed insurance premiums and past-due taxes.
  • Recommend risk rating downgrades in compliance with loan policy.
  • Assist Legal Services with the creation of case files for ongoing case management.
  • Process BSA RFIs by contacting borrowers.
  • Stay current with regulatory and Fannie Mae guidelines.

Qualifications

Requirements

  1. Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance or Accounting.
  2. Three (3) years in loan collections and customer service in a residential mortgage environment.
  3. Knowledge of the Fannie Mae guidelines, including collection, loss mitigation, and compliance loan level reporting requirements
  4. Telephone collection experience specifically related to consumer collections.

Combination of education and experience will be considered.

 

Skills and Competencies

  1. Working knowledge of credit and financial analysis.
  2. General understanding of the management of consumer files in various stages of collection, litigation, and foreclosure.
  3. Ability to work and communicate with various levels in the organization, including in-house and outside counsel.
  4. Must be able to multitask and be able to work in a team environment. 
  5. Must possess good organizational, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  6. Computer knowledgeable in MS Office Software, (Excel, Word, and Outlook, Power Point).

 

Preferences:

  • Knowledge of banking laws and regulations, such as Fair Debt Collections Practices, the Bank Secrecy Act/AML and Patriot Act.  
  • Familiarity with consumer loan servicing, credit card collections, and HELOC management.
  • Exposure to bankruptcy servicing, including understanding of U.S. Bankruptcy Code, and FDCPA
  • Credit Bureau reporting knowledge.
  • FDCPA Compliance Training.
  • Bi-lingual in English/Spanish.

 

Licenses/Certifications

  • Certificates and licenses in Florida Statutes on Collection Laws.
